- Beef sirloin - 300 grams, thinly sliced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 2, thinly sliced
- Red bell pepper - 1, julienned
- Green bell pepper - 1, julienned
- Thai bird's eye chili - 2, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh basil leaves - 1/4 cup, roughly chopped
Steps
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and sliced shallots, stir-frying for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced beef sirloin to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked to your liking.
- Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add the red and green bell peppers and bird's eye chili. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the peppers are tender.
- Return the beef to the skillet and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed jasmine rice or on its own as a delicious BBQ dish.
