Ingredients

  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh Thai basil leaves - 30 grams, roughly chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups (for serving)
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges - 2 (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chopped bird's eye chili to the pan, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add the sliced beef sirloin to the pan, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar, mixing well until the beef is coated in the sauce.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and fold in the chopped Thai basil leaves until they are wilted.
  6. Serve the Nua Pad Krapow hot over cooked jasmine rice, garnished with cucumber slices and lime wedges on the side.
