Ingredients

  • Ground pork - 400 grams
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Mint leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2, whole wheat recommended
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Peanuts - 2 tablespoons, crushed (for topping)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, shallots, cilantro, mint, lime juice, fish sauce, chili powder, garlic, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F).
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked pork patty, slices of tomato and cucumber, and a sprinkle of crushed peanuts.
  6. Drizzle some extra lime juice or fish sauce over the top if desired, and then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
  7. Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.
