- Shallots, finely chopped - 2
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Thai bird chilies, chopped - 2 (adjust to taste)
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Palm sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 leaves
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 100 grams
- Red bell pepper, sliced - 1/2
- Cilantro, for garnish - a handful
- Lime wedges, for serving - 2
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the shallots and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the ground pork to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the tomato paste, diced tomatoes, bird chilies, fish sauce, and palm sugar. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the pork mixture evenly over the pizza base.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by sliced red bell pepper and fresh basil leaves.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges.
