Ingredients
- Ground beef - 300 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Tomato - 150 grams, diced
- Thai bird chilies - 2, finely chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Coconut sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lettuce leaves (butter or romaine) - 4 large leaves
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, chopped red onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into two patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- In another pan, combine diced tomatoes, chopped bird chilies, fish sauce, coconut sugar, and cilantro over medium heat. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes break down and the mixture thickens slightly.
- Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a lettuce leaf and topping it generously with the Nam Prik Ong sauce.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the burgers.
