Ingredients

  • tempeh - 200 grams
  • lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
  • black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Start by preparing the marinade: In a bowl, combine the finely chopped lemongrass, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, coconut oil, and black pepper. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Slice the tempeh into 1 cm thick slabs and add them to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator for more flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the marinated tempeh slices on the grill.
  4. Grill the tempeh for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly charred.
  5. Remove the tempeh from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
  6. Serve the grilled tempeh garnished with fresh cilantro and a wedge of lime on the side.
