Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Shallot - 1, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Sliced cucumber - 1/2 cup
  • Sliced tomato - 1/2 cup
  • Peanut sauce - for serving (optional)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, lime juice, chopped mint, chopped cilantro, shallot, garlic, chili flakes, and rice flour to the crumbled tofu. Mix well until combined.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Form the tofu mixture into two patties and cook in the skillet for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing each tofu patty on a bun, topping with lettuce, cucumber, and tomato slices.
  6. Serve with peanut sauce on the side, if desired.
