- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Shallot - 1, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Sliced cucumber - 1/2 cup
- Sliced tomato - 1/2 cup
- Peanut sauce - for serving (optional)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a mixing bowl.
- Add soy sauce, lime juice, chopped mint, chopped cilantro, shallot, garlic, chili flakes, and rice flour to the crumbled tofu. Mix well until combined.
- Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Form the tofu mixture into two patties and cook in the skillet for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each tofu patty on a bun, topping with lettuce, cucumber, and tomato slices.
- Serve with peanut sauce on the side, if desired.
