Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 150 grams
- Coconut milk - 100 ml
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Palm sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes until tender.
- Once steamed, transfer the rice to a mixing bowl and add the coconut milk, palm sugar, and salt. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 0.5 cm thick. Allow it to cool and set for about 30 minutes.
- Once set, cut the mixture into small squares or circles.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the rice pieces until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with sesame seeds while still hot.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
