Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 g
  • Minced chicken or pork - 200 g
  • Egg - 2 large
  • Fresh Thai basil leaves - 30 g
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, thinly sliced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Green beans - 100 g, chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. Cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a large frying pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sliced shallots, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Add the minced chicken or pork to the pan, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the diced red bell pepper and chopped green beans, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the pan, then pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  6. Push the rice mixture to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty side and scramble until fully cooked, then mix into the rice.
  7. Finally, add the fresh Thai basil leaves and toss everything together until the basil is wilted. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with lime wedges on the side.
