- Jasmine rice - 150 g
- Minced chicken or pork - 200 g
- Egg - 2 large
- Fresh Thai basil leaves - 30 g
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 2, thinly sliced
- Red bell pepper - 1, diced
- Green beans - 100 g, chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- Cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large frying pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sliced shallots, sautéing until fragrant.
- Add the minced chicken or pork to the pan, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the diced red bell pepper and chopped green beans, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the cooked rice to the pan, then pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Push the rice mixture to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty side and scramble until fully cooked, then mix into the rice.
- Finally, add the fresh Thai basil leaves and toss everything together until the basil is wilted. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with lime wedges on the side.
