- Jasmine rice - 200 grams

- Bird's eye chili - 2, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Eggs - 2, for frying
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced for garnish
- Lime wedges - 2, for serving
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then cook it according to package instructions.
- While the rice is cooking, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped bird's eye chili to the skillet, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground chicken or beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar, mixing well to coat the meat evenly.
- Add the cooked jasmine rice to the skillet and mix thoroughly with the meat and sauce, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Fold in the Thai basil leaves and cook until wilted, about 1 minute.
- In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your preference.
- Serve the Khao Pad Kra Pao hot, topped with a fried egg, garnished with cucumber slices and lime wedges.
