- Green peas - 100 grams (fresh or frozen)
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable broth - 100 milliliters
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams, chopped
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a pot, bring 300 milliliters of water to a boil, add the rinsed rice, reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is fluffy and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
- While the rice is cooking, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots to the skillet, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the diced carrot and bell pepper, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add the green peas, soy sauce, and vegetable broth to the skillet, and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring well.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and add it to the skillet, mixing everything together until well combined.
- Add the chopped basil, lime juice, chili flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional basil or lime wedges if desired.
