Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 200 grams
  • Mung beans - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pandan leaves - 2 (optional for aroma)

Steps

  1. Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Rinse the mung beans and soak them in water for 2 hours.
  3. Steam the soaked sticky rice for 30 minutes until tender.
  4. While the rice is steaming, drain the mung beans and steam them as well for about 15-20 minutes until soft.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add pandan leaves if using.
  6. Once the mung beans are cooked, mash them with a fork or potato masher, then mix in half of the sweetened coconut milk.
  7. To serve, place a portion of sticky rice on a plate, top with the mung bean mixture, and drizzle with the remaining sweetened coconut milk.
