Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 150 grams
- Mango (ripe) - 1 large (about 200 grams)
- Coconut milk - 150 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds (toasted) - 1 tablespoon
- Coconut flakes (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 25-30 minutes until cooked and tender.
- In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently over low heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring it to a boil.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about 100 ml of the coconut sauce over it. Mix well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- While the rice is resting, peel and slice the mango into thin strips.
- To serve, place a portion of the coconut sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices on top, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and coconut flakes if desired.
