Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 200 grams
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Pandan leaves - 3 pieces (tied in a knot)
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons (toasted)
- Fresh mango - 1 medium (sliced for serving)
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Steam the rice for about 30 minutes until tender.
- In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, salt, and pandan leaves. Heat gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and discard the pandan leaves.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and mix in half of the coconut sauce, allowing it to absorb the flavors for about 5 minutes.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce, and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Add slices of fresh mango on the side.
