- Glutinous rice - 200 grams
- Naem (fermented Thai sausage) - 100 grams, sliced
- Cucumber - 1 medium, sliced
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Mint leaves - 10 grams, roughly chopped
- Coriander leaves - 10 grams, roughly chopped
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and sticky.
- While the rice is steaming, prepare the naem by slicing it into thin rounds and set it aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chili flakes to create a dressing.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and let it cool slightly.
- To serve, place a portion of sticky rice on each plate, top with the sliced naem, and arrange the cucumber and carrot around.
- Drizzle the dressing over the top and garnish with mint and coriander leaves.
