Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 150 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Mango - 1 ripe (approximately 200 grams)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional for garnish)

Steps

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes, or until it becomes sticky and translucent.
  3. While the rice is steaming, prepare the coconut sauce by combining the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until the sugar is dissolved, but do not bring it to a boil.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the steamer and transfer it to a bowl. Pour half of the coconut sauce over the rice and mix well. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Peel and slice the mango into thin strips or wedges.
  6. To serve, mold the sticky rice into a small portion on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
