Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 200 grams
  • Chicken breast - 150 grams, thinly sliced

  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Cilantro - a handful, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Soak the glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight, then drain.
  2. Steam the soaked rice in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 25 minutes until cooked and sticky.
  3. While the rice is steaming, heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and sliced shallot to the pan, sautéing until fragrant and golden.
  5. Add the sliced chicken breast to the pan, cooking until it is no longer pink.
  6. Stir in the gluten-free soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper, mixing well to coat the chicken.
  7. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  8. Once the rice is ready, serve it on plates topped with the chicken stir-fry.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and cilantro before serving.
