- Water - 300 milliliters
- Coconut milk - 100 milliliters
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Green onion - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or rice cooker for about 30 minutes until fully cooked and sticky.
- Once cooked, transfer the sticky rice to a mixing bowl and let it cool slightly. Mix in the coconut milk, salt, minced garlic, chopped coriander, chopped green onion, and black sesame seeds until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small patties, about 1 cm thick.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the patties and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, lime juice, and chili flakes to create the dipping sauce.
- Serve the crispy sticky rice patties hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
