Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 150 grams
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ripe mango - 2 medium
- Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
- While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and set aside 3 tablespoons of this mixture for drizzling later.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the remaining coconut mixture over it. Stir well to combine and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin strips.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices beside it, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
