Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 150 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ripe mango - 2 medium
  • Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
  3. While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and set aside 3 tablespoons of this mixture for drizzling later.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the remaining coconut mixture over it. Stir well to combine and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin strips.
  6. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices beside it, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
