Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 200 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 milliliters
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh mango - 1 medium, sliced
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
  • Banana - 1 medium, sliced
  • Pandan leaves - 1-2 leaves (optional, for aroma)

Steps

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked sticky rice and place it in a steamer lined with pandan leaves (if using).
  3. Steam the sticky rice for about 30 minutes, or until fully cooked and tender.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm (do not boil).
  5. Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and mix in half of the warm coconut milk mixture, stirring well to combine.
  6. Let the sticky rice sit for 5-10 minutes to absorb the coconut milk flavor.
  7. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut milk, and top with sliced mango and banana.
  8. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.
