Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 200 grams
- Coconut milk - 400 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Pandan leaves - 2 (optional, for aroma)
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
- Fresh mango - 1 (sliced, for serving)
Steps
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. If using pandan leaves, tie them in a knot and add them to the rice for extra aroma.
- Steam the rice for about 30 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and sticky. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a serving bowl and pour half of the coconut sauce over the top. Mix gently to combine.
- Let the rice sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the coconut flavor.
- To serve, plate the rice and drizzle more coconut sauce on top. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve with sliced fresh mango on the side.
