Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 150 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ripe mango - 1 medium
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 25-30 minutes until cooked and sticky.
  3. While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about 100 ml of the coconut milk mixture over the rice. Stir well to combine and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Peel and slice the ripe mango into thin strips.
  6. To serve, place a generous portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top it with mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
