Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ripe bananas - 2 medium
  • Banana leaves (optional) - for wrapping

Steps

  1. Soak the glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a steamer for about 30 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves but do not bring to a boil.
  4. Slice the ripe bananas lengthwise into halves or quarters, depending on your preference.
  5. In a serving dish, layer half of the steamed sticky rice, followed by half of the coconut milk mixture. Add the sliced bananas on top.
  6. Add the remaining sticky rice and pour the rest of the coconut milk mixture over it.
  7. If using banana leaves, you can wrap the dessert for presentation. Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
