Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 150 ml
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Banana leaves - 2 pieces (for wrapping)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional, for garnish)
Steps
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it for about 20 minutes until cooked and translucent.
- In a saucepan, mix the coconut milk, sugar, and salt, and heat gently until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
- Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour half of the coconut mixture over it. Stir well to combine and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Prepare the banana leaves by cutting them into squares (approximately 20 cm x 20 cm) and briefly steaming them to make them pliable.
- Place a spoonful of the sticky rice mixture onto the center of each banana leaf square, fold the sides over to create a parcel, and secure with kitchen string or a toothpick.
- Steam the parcels for an additional 20 minutes, until they are heated through.
- Serve warm, drizzled with the remaining coconut milk and garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
