Ingredients
- Glutinous rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 150 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Pandan leaves (optional) - 2 pieces
- Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and sticky.
- While the rice is steaming, prepare the coconut sauce by combining the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about half of the coconut sauce over it. Mix gently until the rice is evenly coated and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- To serve, divide the sticky rice into two bowls, drizzling the remaining coconut sauce on top. Optionally, garnish with toasted sesame seeds and pandan leaves for added flavor and presentation.
