Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pandan leaves (optional) - 2 pieces
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and sticky.
  3. While the rice is steaming, prepare the coconut sauce by combining the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about half of the coconut sauce over it. Mix gently until the rice is evenly coated and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  5. To serve, divide the sticky rice into two bowls, drizzling the remaining coconut sauce on top. Optionally, garnish with toasted sesame seeds and pandan leaves for added flavor and presentation.
