Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Crab meat (cooked) - 100 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped scallions - 1 tablespoon
  • Banana leaves (for steaming) - 2 pieces (approximately 20x20 cm)

Steps

  1. Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the sticky rice and steam it for about 20 minutes until fully cooked and sticky.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the coconut milk, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves.
  4. In another bowl, combine the crab meat, egg, cornstarch, and chopped scallions, mixing well to create the filling.
  5. Once the sticky rice is cooked, take half of it and press it into the bottom of a small dish lined with banana leaves to form a base layer.
  6. Spread the crab meat filling evenly over the rice layer.
  7. Top with the remaining sticky rice, pressing down gently to compact it.
  8. Cover the dish with more banana leaves and steam for an additional 20-25 minutes.
  9. Let it cool slightly before slicing into squares and serving warm.
