Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ripe mango - 1 medium (approximately 200 grams)
  • Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for about 25 minutes, or until the rice is translucent and fully cooked.
  3. While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about 100 ml of the sweetened coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well to combine and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Peel the mango and slice it into thin wedges.
  6. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut milk, and top with mango slices. Optionally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for added texture.
