Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 100 grams
  • Water - 1 liter
  • Minced pork (kosher) - 150 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 2 tablespoons
  • White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and 1 liter of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice breaks down and the porridge thickens.
  4. In a separate pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  5. Add the minced pork to the pan, cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, white pepper, and salt to the pork mixture, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Once the rice porridge has reached the desired consistency, stir in the pork mixture until well combined.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro.
