Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Coconut milk - 100 ml
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Curry powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- Wooden skewers - 4
Steps
- Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, mix coconut milk, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, turmeric, curry powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the tofu is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
- Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
- Thread the marinated tofu cubes onto the soaked skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
- In a small bowl, mix peanut butter, water, and chili flakes to create the dipping sauce, adjusting water for desired consistency.
- Serve the grilled tofu satay hot with the peanut sauce on the side.
