Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Curry powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Wooden skewers - 4

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix coconut milk, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, turmeric, curry powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. While the tofu is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
  5. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  6. Thread the marinated tofu cubes onto the soaked skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  7. Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
  8. In a small bowl, mix peanut butter, water, and chili flakes to create the dipping sauce, adjusting water for desired consistency.
  9. Serve the grilled tofu satay hot with the peanut sauce on the side.
