Ingredients

  • Cauliflower - 1 medium head (about 500g)
  • Tamarind paste - 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Agave syrup - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (2g)
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (1g)

Steps

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C or 400°F).
  2. Cut the cauliflower into thick slices, about 1.5 cm each, to create 'steaks'.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine tamarind paste, soy sauce, agave syrup, lime juice, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  4. Add the cauliflower steaks to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Place the marinated cauliflower steaks on the preheated grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender and grill marks appear.
  6. Once cooked, remove the cauliflower from the grill and sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.
