- Pork shoulder - 250 grams
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced thinly
- Lettuce leaves - 4
- Thai sweet chili sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Burger buns - 2
- Peanut oil - for frying
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, fish sauce, minced garlic, chopped shallots, cilantro, lime juice, panko breadcrumbs, beaten egg, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into two patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat peanut oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by lightly toasting them in another pan or on a grill.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the crispy pork patty, sliced cucumber, and a drizzle of Thai sweet chili sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with additional chili sauce on the side, if desired.
