Ingredients
- White fish fillets (like cod or tilapia) - 250 grams
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Rice flour - 1/2 cup
- Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
- Cold sparkling water - 1/2 cup
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Burger buns - 2 pieces
- Cabbage, finely shredded - 1/2 cup
- Cucumber, sliced - 1/2 cup
- Thai sweet chili sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Fresh cilantro leaves - a handful
Steps
- In a bowl, season the fish fillets with salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the rice flour and cornstarch. Gradually add the cold sparkling water to create a smooth batter.
- Dip each marinated fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated fish fillets and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fish from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on a skillet or grill.
- Assemble the burger: Spread a tablespoon of Thai sweet chili sauce on each bun, add the fried fish fillet, top with shredded cabbage, cucumber slices, and cilantro leaves.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Crispy Fish Burger!
