Ingredients
- Glutinous rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 150 milliliters
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Grated coconut - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 150 milliliters
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and sticky.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, and then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and gradually add half of the coconut milk mixture, stirring to combine. Allow it to cool slightly.
- Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking, then take small portions of the rice mixture and roll them into balls, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
- Once all the rice balls are formed, place them on a plate and drizzle the remaining coconut milk mixture over the top.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and grated coconut on top for garnish, and let them sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors before serving.
