Ingredients

  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Taro root - 100 g
  • Agar-agar powder - 1 tsp
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp

Steps

  1. Peel and dice the taro root into small cubes. Steam the taro for about 15 minutes or until tender.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the water, agar-agar powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil while stirring continuously until the agar-agar dissolves.
  3. Once the mixture is boiling, add the coconut milk and vanilla extract. Stir well and remove from heat.
  4. In a serving glass or bowl, layer the cooked taro cubes at the bottom.
  5. Pour the coconut mixture over the taro cubes until they are completely covered.
  6. Let the jelly cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  7. Serve chilled, optionally garnished with fresh fruits or toasted coconut flakes.
