  • White fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 300 grams
  • Grated coconut (unsweetened) - 50 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha sauce - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the grill or a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the white fish fillets, grated coconut, cilantro, lime juice, fish sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, red chili flakes, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Form the mixture into two burger patties.
  4. Cook the patties on the grill or in the frying pan for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and the patties are golden brown.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun, then add a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked fish patty.
  7. Top each burger with sliced tomato and cucumber, and drizzle with Sriracha sauce before closing the bun.
