Ingredients

  • Taro - 150 grams, peeled and diced
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Coconut cream - 50 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Tapioca pearls - 30 grams (optional for texture)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, bring 200 ml of water to a boil and add the diced taro. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the taro is tender.
  2. In a separate pot, combine coconut milk, coconut cream, sugar, and salt, stirring over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
  3. If using, cook the tapioca pearls in a separate pot according to package instructions until they are translucent, then drain and rinse under cold water.
  4. Once the taro is cooked, drain any excess water and mash half of the taro chunks while leaving the rest diced for texture.
  5. Combine the mashed taro with the coconut mixture, stirring well. Add the diced taro and cooked tapioca pearls (if using) and mix gently.
  6. Pour the mixture into serving bowls and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to allow it to set slightly.
  7. Before serving, garnish with sesame seeds and enjoy your Coconut and Taro Dessert!
