- Taro - 150 grams, peeled and diced
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Coconut cream - 50 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Water - 200 ml
- Tapioca pearls - 30 grams (optional for texture)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a saucepan, bring 200 ml of water to a boil and add the diced taro. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the taro is tender.
- In a separate pot, combine coconut milk, coconut cream, sugar, and salt, stirring over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- If using, cook the tapioca pearls in a separate pot according to package instructions until they are translucent, then drain and rinse under cold water.
- Once the taro is cooked, drain any excess water and mash half of the taro chunks while leaving the rest diced for texture.
- Combine the mashed taro with the coconut mixture, stirring well. Add the diced taro and cooked tapioca pearls (if using) and mix gently.
- Pour the mixture into serving bowls and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to allow it to set slightly.
