Ingredients

  • Tempeh - 200 grams

  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste (like sambal oelek) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Slice the tempeh into 1/2-inch thick rectangles and steam for 10 minutes to soften.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together lime juice, lime zest, soy sauce, maple syrup, chili paste, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the steamed tempeh to the marinade and let it soak for at least 15 minutes, turning occasionally for even flavor distribution.
  4. Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Grill the marinated tempeh for 5-7 minutes on each side until grill marks appear and it's heated through.
