- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Fresh Thai basil leaves - 30 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges for serving
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, and red chili flakes.
- Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss to coat them in the marinade. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss gently until evenly coated.
- Spread the tofu cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and drizzle with vegetable oil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Remove the tofu from the oven and toss with fresh Thai basil and chopped green onions.
- Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.
