Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread - 4 slices
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Kosher anchovy fillets - 8 pieces
  • Garlic - 1 clove, thinly sliced
  • Capers - 1 tablespoon, rinsed
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Lemon - 1 wedge, for garnish
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the skillet.
  3. Add the sourdough bread slices to the skillet and toast them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  4. Remove the toasted bread from the skillet and place them on a serving platter.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Arrange 2 anchovy fillets on each slice of toast.
  7. Sprinkle the sautéed garlic on top of the anchovies.
  8. Add a few capers on each toast and garnish with chopped parsley.
  9. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the toasts and season with black pepper.
  10. Serve immediately with a lemon wedge on the side.
