- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- extra virgin olive oil - 60 ml
- water - 100 ml
- sugar - 50 grams
- active dry yeast - 7 grams
- anise seeds - 1 teaspoon
- orange zest - 1 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- powdered sugar - for dusting
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water (about 30°C) and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, anise seeds, and orange zest.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the olive oil and the yeast mixture.
- Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a thin disc approximately 1/2 cm thick and place them on the prepared baking tray.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
