Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and anise seeds, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, then add the vegetable oil and water, mixing until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead gently for a few minutes until smooth.
- Roll small portions of the dough into ropes about 1 cm thick and shape them into rings, pressing the ends together to seal.
- In a deep frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the doughnuts over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the rings in batches, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried rosquillas with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
