- Warm water - 120 milliliters
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Mushrooms (cremini or button) - 200 grams, sliced
- Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - to taste
- Tomato sauce - 100 grams
- Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
- While the dough is rising, heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until softened and any moisture has evaporated. Season with oregano, black pepper, and half of the chopped parsley. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a 30 cm (12 inch) round shape.
- Transfer the rolled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base.
- Top the sauce with the sautéed mushroom mixture and sprinkle nutritional yeast on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with the remaining parsley before slicing and serving.
