- Milk - 60 ml

- Butter - 30 grams (melted)
- Cream cheese - 100 grams
- Powdered sugar - 50 grams
- Cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
- Heavy cream - 100 ml
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a 20x30 cm baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- In another bowl, combine the cornstarch and baking powder, then gently fold it into the egg mixture along with the milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray, spreading it evenly, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the sponge from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before inverting it onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Carefully peel off the parchment paper and roll the sponge cake tightly in the towel to form a log shape. Let it cool completely.
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the filling by beating the cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and heavy cream together until smooth and fluffy.
- Once the sponge cake is cool, unroll it gently and spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the surface.
- Roll the cake back up tightly, this time without the towel, and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
- Slice the pionono into rounds and serve chilled, optionally dusting with additional powdered sugar.
