- White wine - 50 ml
- Salt - a pinch
- Honey - for drizzling
- Powdered sugar - for dusting
- Vegetable oil - for frying - 500 ml
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, anise seeds, cinnamon powder, and a pinch of salt.
- In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil until warm, then add it to the flour mixture along with the white wine.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin oval shape, about 2-3 mm thick.
- Fold each oval in half, then twist the ends to form a shape resembling an '8'.
- In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot. Fry the pestiños in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried pestiños and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Drizzle with honey and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
