Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Unsalted margarine - 100 grams
- Cold water - 50 ml
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Ground beef (or chicken) - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red bell pepper - 1, finely chopped
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the cold water slowly, mixing until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the red bell pepper and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Add the ground meat, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Remove from heat, stir in chopped parsley, and let the filling cool.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a thin sheet. Cut out two circles, one larger than the other.
- Place the larger circle in a greased pie dish, pressing it into the bottom and sides.
- Fill with the cooled meat mixture, then cover with the smaller dough circle. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
