- Fresh asparagus - 200 grams, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the whole wheat pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the asparagus pieces to the pot with the pasta.
- While the pasta and asparagus are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Drain the pasta and asparagus, then add them to the skillet with the garlic and olive oil mixture.
- Toss everything together over medium heat, adding lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
