  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or debris, and discard any that are open or damaged.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up. Discard any that remain closed.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  6. Serve the mussels hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
