Steps
- Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or debris, and discard any that are open or damaged.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up. Discard any that remain closed.
- Remove the pot from heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
- Serve the mussels hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
