Steps

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  2. Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process, then drain again.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, seasoning with salt and black pepper.
  6. Sauté the green beans for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are heated through and slightly caramelized.
