  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Fresh spinach - 60 grams (1 cup, packed)
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Avocado - 1 small, sliced

Steps

  1. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced red onion and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until they soften.
  2. Add the sugar and continue to cook the onions for another 5-10 minutes until they are caramelized and golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
  4. Add minced garlic, breadcrumbs, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix until well combined.
