- Squid (calamari) - 300 grams, cleaned and sliced into rings
- Rice flour - 100 grams
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1 large, beaten
- Olive oil - for frying
- Lemon wedges - for serving
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create the dry coating.
- Dip each squid ring into the beaten egg, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the dry mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat about 5 cm of olive oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until hot (around 180°C).
- Fry the coated squid rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
