Ingredients

  • Squid (calamari) - 300 grams, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large, beaten
  • Olive oil - for frying
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the rice flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create the dry coating.
  2. Dip each squid ring into the beaten egg, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the dry mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. Heat about 5 cm of olive oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until hot (around 180°C).
  4. Fry the coated squid rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
